LulaRage:The #1 Workplace Betrayal Lesson from the LulaRich Documentary

Recently I was lucky enough to receive a free movie trailer from Amazon Prime to promote my female betrayal course: It's the buckwild LulaRich documentary.

Literally, the wild Amazon docuseries LulaRich showcases the intricate web of female professional betrayal—and the immense damage it can wreak— better than I ever could.

One of the most troubling refrains in the documentary is the #becauseoflularoe hashtag that the employees were forced to use on any of their social media posts about their success. One former employee mentioned posting pictures of her new house—and then promptly receiving a reproach for not tagging it #becauseoflularoe. It’s not even the hashtag that’s the issue, it’s the dangerous mentality behind it. When you are in the presence of a professional Trojan Feminist boss like DeAnne Stidham of LulaRoe, they will make you feel like all of your success is because of them. And if they cut you off, you will have nothing.

But as I watched these smart, savvy businesswomen in this documentary, one thing was clear:

Their success was because of them.

They had been successful in past jobs.

They will be successful in future jobs.

In fact, watching these women, and their shrewd insights, their lightning bolt personalities, and their go-getter energy, there is no doubt in my mind that they can succeed in anything they do.

Their success definitely was not because of LulaRoe. The documentary shared that the success of the women in the documentary was actually highly atypical. 70% of sellers made zero dollars.

This reminds me of the analysis I did of Belinda’s workplace betrayal on the HBO show White Lotus, and how her mistake was believing her success with her wellness center hinged solely on Tany’s investment, when realistically a high-class tropical resort is crawling with potential investors.

So take this away today:

Here is what scheming, backstabbing Trojan Feminist bosses do not want you to know:

Your success is because of you.

It's because of your talents.

It's because of your energy.

It's because of your business savvy.

And your talent? It’s portable.

If you don’t like how you are being treated, you can pack it right up and go somewhere else. You are not getting your license to practice revoked. You are moving on. Big difference.

I am a storyteller by trade. If an environment isn’t working for me, I pack up my storyteller suitcase and I set up shop somewhere else: rinse and repeat.
Unless you are a lawyer getting your license revoked, you are a free agent.

And don't let some rotten leggings purveyor tell you any different. It is #becauseofyou
